USED AND DISCARDED : ELON’S FATE IN TRUMP’S HANDS
By: Khairul Faizi bin Ahmad Kamil
There is a well-known proverb: “Once the honey is gone, the husk is discarded.” And that perfectly sums up what’s happening in America right now, with Elon Musk becoming the discarded husk, no longer sweet or useful to Donald Trump.
The controversial president, infamous for his outlandish threats, is now hinting that he may deport Elon Musk back to South Africa simply because Musk dared to speak out against one of Trump’s cherished spending bills. It may sound absurd, but it is truly happening. From the White House briefing room to the virtual walls of social media, Trump is no longer hiding his wrath.
Ironically, Musk is no ordinary figure. He was one of the biggest donors to Trump’s 2024 campaign. He didn’t just give money, he lent legitimacy to Trump’s early administration and policies. But in the realm of realpolitik, it’s not your past contributions that count but it’s your continued silence and loyalty. While many speculated that Musk had business motives behind his political backing, the fact remains: he supported Trump financially, and consistently.
Now, because Musk has begun to voice criticism branding the “One Big Beautiful Bill” as what it really is, One Big Beautiful Mess, Trump has begun to sharpen his claws. From threats of federal subsidy investigations, to mocking taunts on social media, and even vague deportation threats, this is no longer conservative politics; this is revenge politics.
As always, truth is no longer the currency of power. What matters is control. Elon Musk once the embodiment of American innovation through Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink is now being cast aside into the wilderness, simply for falling out of step with the president’s tune.
Musk’s recent proposal to form a new political force, the “America Party” is a direct challenge to the two aging political behemoths that are slowly rotting from within. But the real question remains: Are Americans truly ready for a new kind of politics, one that refuses to bow to the cult of personality?
More crucially, if even Elon Musk can be discarded after all he’s contributed, what hope is there for the ordinary citizen who dares to question power?
The world is watching not just a battle over policy between tech and politics but a stark reminder that in elite circles, there is no such thing as eternal loyalty. Only permanent interests.
Promises, once made, are quickly forgotten, neatly folded into the archives of political history. They’re campaign material at best, designed to stir emotion and secure votes. But once power is secured, excuses are fabricated to rewrite the narrative. What is promised is rarely what is delivered.
Just like the broken pledge here at home: “Menang hari ini, esok minyak turun.”
Another forgotten promise, buried under the weight of convenient silence.
