RXZ MEMBERS 7.0 : BETWEEN HOBBY, SOLIDARITY AND VICTIMS OF POLITIC

The RXZ Members 7.0 event held at the Terengganu Motor Circuit, Gong Badak, was supposed to be a joyful occasion where thousands of youths could share their passion, motorcycle culture, and spirit of brotherhood. Unfortunately, as expressed by the Terengganu Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, the program did not escape becoming a “victim of politics.”

What happened reflects the reality of Malaysian politics today, narrow and divisive where any program involving a state government not aligned with Putrajaya often faces restrictions. Politics becomes a shadow that overshadows the social and recreational space of the people.

Dr Samsuri, with a tone of regret, mentioned that he and the state leaders were “excluded” from attending the event alongside thousands of participants, even though in previous years he would usually join them, sometimes even riding with participants as a symbol of support. This raises the question: why must a recreational event for youths be tied to partisan politics?

His remark that RXZ Members has become the “victim of jealousy-driven politics from Putrajaya KL” shows how narrow politics has stripped away the real value of such an event. For the people of Terengganu, this program is not just a motorcycle gathering; it also creates small-scale economic opportunities, boosts local businesses, and strengthens the state’s tourism appeal.

When state leaders are sidelined purely for political considerations, it clearly demonstrates the face of immature politics, which ultimately harms the people. In Dr Samsuri’s own biting phrase, this is “komang spanar politics”, a politics that deliberately throws a wrench into the smooth journey of the people.

Nevertheless, despite the restrictions, Dr Samsuri’s message remained positive. He offered prayers for the smooth running of the event, reminded participants to stay safe, and even urged them not to forget their prayers. This reflects a leadership approach that prioritizes the people, even when sidelined from the official stage.

In conclusion, RXZ Members 7.0 has become a reflection of how politics in Malaysia is still trapped in narrow calculations. The youths who attended the event did not come carrying party flags; they came with passion, creativity, and solidarity. They should not become collateral damage in the game of politics. Mature politics should celebrate, not obstruct.
